Happy Birthday, Dad

This present was so good we opened it early, but mom rewrapped it for today's celebration.

Survival Training

Clark failed to convince his dad that the corporate jungle gag was too obvious to be entertaining.

Speak Up

There's no need to whisper. Clark knows you're talking about him.

Neighborhood Watch

Dad wanted to talk about the merits of pajamas with feet, but Clark was more interested in what the neighbors were doing.

Safety Team

Before every trip, Maxwell checks that Clark is securely harnessed.

Missed Opportunity

Clark was recommended for an internship at a West Loop gallery but slept through the alarm and missed his interview.

Bath House

After a sit in the sauna, Clark treated himself to a well-deserved massage.

Good News, Bad News

First, the bad news: Another bath was had.

Second, the good news: A fleece fish applied directly to the forehead provides surprising relief.

Basketball Camp

Clark's preseason conditioning was found wanting.

Seal of Approval

Test Drive

First things first. Does the bed work?

Check.

How about the rocker?

Check.

Almost Home

After quick trip through the lobby and a short photo op, the family piled into the car to go home.

Last look around the room

Mom and Clark look great and ready to promenade on Michigan Avenue.

Travelin' Clothes

Today we went home. Clark gave the nurses a cheeky goodbye with his See Ya Later, Alligator outfit.

Stretch

After just his third day of yoga studies, Clark reached zen.

Book Club

Neither of us actually finished the book, so we just had mom read us the ending.

Hooty Hoo

Clark has been practicing this great trick to fool Maxwell by throwing his voice with bird calls.

Straitjackets

Somebody at the garment factory must be in trouble for this miscalculation, because we have not seen a single baby with arms long enough to fill these sleeves.

Face Time

Later in the day, Clark and dad had a deep conversation about current events.

Post-nap Nap

After a nap, a snack, and a brief stretch, another nap was in order.

Temporary Quarters

After a short stop in the recovery room, Clark headed to his room upstairs and gave the bassinet a test drive.

First peek at the outside world

Clark briefly questioned whether he was really interested in taking part in today's activities. After a terse conversation with the doctor, he relented and headed straight to the heat lamp.

Clark Bernard

Clark joined us on July 10, 2008 at 9:57 a.m. He weighed 8 lbs, 4 oz, and measured 20 1/2 in long. He and mom are tired but well.

We will post pictures as soon as Clark figures out how to hack through the hospital's computer security measures. In the meantime, just trust us - he is the cutest, most charming baby here.

Monkey-Free Zone

If the monkeys get too rowdy, Mr. Kid can seek some peace on the other side of the room.
